MediEvil: Resurrection brings the beloved story of Sir Daniel Fortesque back to life on the PSP. This action-adventure game is a remake of the original “MediEvil” from the PS1, blending a darkly humorous storyline with vibrant, gothic visuals. You play as Sir Dan, a once-fallen knight who is revived to defend the kingdom of Gallowmere from the evil sorcerer Zarok. Dan is equipped with a range of medieval weaponry, from swords to crossbows, and has a skeletal charm that makes him both a powerful and hilarious protagonist.
The game features classic hack-and-slash combat, along with puzzle-solving and platforming elements. While the combat and level design remain faithful to the original, the PSP version introduces a few unique tweaks. In addition to his iconic sword and shield, Dan can wield weapons like crossbows and hammers, giving players a variety of ways to tackle enemies. The quirky characters and eerie locations make every level an adventure, as you encounter everything from zombie townsfolk to massive, grotesque bosses. However, controls can feel a bit clunky, which can make platforming tricky at times.
With a visual overhaul for the PSP, MediEvil: Resurrection sports refined graphics that highlight the game’s Halloween-inspired world. The gothic cartoon aesthetic is stronger than ever, with cleverly designed levels full of strange, atmospheric details. The soundtrack complements the action beautifully, setting the tone for each level with haunting melodies that feel right out of a Tim Burton movie. The voice acting adds to the humor, with Sir Dan and supporting characters delivering witty lines that keep the game’s dark theme lighthearted.
If you’re a fan of classic action-adventure games with a humorous twist, MediEvil: Resurrection is a must-play on the PSP. It captures the spirit of the original MediEvil while offering new content and a fresh look. Despite minor issues with controls, it remains a solid addition to any PSP collection, letting players experience a blend of humor, horror, and adventure that’s hard to find elsewhere.
