IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ANDROID 11 USERS AND ABOVE:
Due to changes in the file system for increased privacy in Android 11 and above, users may experience issues with manually placing OBB files and data in the Android folder. If your app holds REQUEST_INSTALL_PACKAGES permission, it can access the Android/obb directory. Some users have reported being able to copy and move to and from the obb and data folder using Google Files after allowing both “modify system” and “install unknown app” permissions.
For Android 10, there were also issues with accessing OBB expansion files if the APK and OBB were downloaded from the Google Play store. A workaround suggested was to use
Context.getObbDir()instead ofEnvironment.getExternalStorageDirectory().OBB files are not supported by older Android devices running Android Nougat or earlier. If you want to move an OBB file to an SD card, you’ll need to first create a new folder called “obb” on your SD card.
